End Stone (also known as White Stone or Ender Stone) is a new block that appears in The End and makes up the surface of that world. It appears as a white block with a mottled sponge-like texture.
End Stone is notable for having a blast resistance of 45, 1.5 times that of ordinary stone and the highest of any block that can be destroyed by explosions. It also cannot be picked up by Endermen. These properties make it useful for buildings, but it is incredibly hard to obtain in Survival mode (requiring a successful trip to The End).
History
End Stone was introduced in 1.9Pre3. It originally could only be successfully mined with a Pickaxe, dropping Cobblestone like normal Stone. However, mining the End Stone with a pickaxe which has a Silk Touch Enchantment would yield an End Stone block with no nametag if you moused over it. This has been fixed as of 1.9Pre5. Prior to 1.9Pre6 there was no way to leave the End with this block in Survival Singleplayer Mode. As of version 1.0.0 you are able to leave the end with End Stone and it can be mined with any pickaxe.
