Dead bushes are transparent blocks in the form of an aesthetic plant.

Obtaining

Dead bushes drop 0–2 sticks when broken without shears. When shears are used, a dead bush will drop itself. Also, they do not spread, and cannot be grown using bone meal. If the block below the dead bush is removed, the bush will simply disappear without dropping anything.

Natural generation

Dead bushes will generate on sand, red sand, podzol, dirt, coarse dirt and terracotta in deserts, badlands and giant tree taigas.

Usage

Dead bushes can be used for aesthetic decoration, as a source of sticks and a fuel source‌[upcoming: Lua error in Module:Version_link at line 112: attempt to concatenate local 'text' (a nil value).]. They can be placed on any kind of sand, terracotta, dirt or podzol, but not on mycelium or grass blocks. They can also be placed in flower pots.

Trivia

  • There is a variant of grass called "Shrub" that looks identical to the dead bush, but will occasionally drop seeds and is randomly offset from the center of the block like grass.‌[Legacy Console Edition only]
  • Dead bushes dropping sticks is based on a suggestion by Reddit user pedroff_1.[1]
