Curse of Vanishing is an enchantment that causes the item to disappear on death.

Obtaining

Curse of Vanishing can be obtained only from chest loot, fishing, or trading for enchanted books.

In Bedrock Edition, this enchantment is available only via third-party software or from converting an Xbox One Edition world to Bedrock Edition that has an item with the curse .‌[until BE 1.16.0]

Usage

When the player dies, the item disappears instead of dropping on the ground. The item may still be dropped normally.

The effect can be prevented by storing the affected items inside of a shulker box or setting the keepInventory gamerule to true.

Curse of Vanishing can not be removed from an item using a grindstone. However, the curse can be removed by combining it with another item in a crafting interface.(MC-158807) ‌[until JE 1.16] This curse can be used to troll players, if they manage pick up the item. If used on powerful armour, it can be a devastating loss to a player. A good way of doing this would be to lure them to stand on a dispenser with a pressure plate on it, with armour inside that has the curse on said item.
