Usage

Composters can be used to produce bone meal. To do so, the player must use any of a selection of items on the composter.

When an item is used on the composter, the bottom of the composter’s appearance will sometimes turn from plank-like to podzol-like, which is the first level of composting; other times it may take several uses to get to this first level. The podzol-like bottom will sometimes get higher with each use. The chance that using the composter with an item will increase the level of it varies between items; for example, kelp has a chance of 10%, meaning that if it is used on the composter it will add a new level only 10% of the time, with the composter consuming the kelp but not taking any action the other 90% of the time. There are a total of 7 levels of composting. If the player uses the composter at its highest level, it will produce a single bone meal, which will appear as an item entity.

Composters can interact with hoppers by placing a composter on the upper side of a hopper and producing bone meal from the composter, which will cause the bone meal to go through the hopper and if there is a container under it such as a chest, furnace, or another hopper, it will end up there (see Hopper § Redstone component for more details about hopper-specific mechanics).

Usage
Ice bombs can be thrown by using them. They are affected by gravity.

Like with ender pearls, there is a short cooldown before the player can throw another ice bomb. The cooldown is shown in the hotbar by a white overlay that shrinks before the player is able to use it again.

Ice bombs explode upon hitting most blocks, including non-solid blocks, but not air. They also explode upon hitting other entities, but do not deal damage, and unlike eggs and snowballs, their impact is not considered an attack and does no damage or knockback. When exploding, any water (including flowing water, but not waterlogged blocks) in a 3×3×3 cube around the ice bomb freezes into ice. Ice bombs can be used to contain and displace mobs in ice under water.

While endermen teleport away from arrows shot at them, they can be hit by ice bombs.

Throwing an ice bomb while underwater encloses the player in ice.

Trivia
* In real life, mixing a sufficient amount of sodium acetate in water does solidify it, but creates hot ice (sodium acetate trihydrate) instead of normal ice.
