Chain Armor is a type of Armor that was made by Notch as a test. Pieces of chain armor can be crafted just like all other types of armor, but with Fire as the main ingredient, which can only be obtained via hacking/modding, or use of the /give command in Multiplayer; thus, it is not currently available in-game. Chain armor has the same durability as Gold armor.

Chain armor is unique in that it is the only default armor with large amounts of transparency within the armor. Every other pixel is transparent, except for the front of the head, which has a clear space for the face, and other areas which have no covering.

Chain armor is not present in some texture packs but it is sometimes used in some adventure maps as an accessory.

Trivia

  • The chain chestplate has a tiny bit longer sleeves than all the other chestplates.
  • The chain armor can now be acquired "legitimately" with creative mode in 1.8, but as it is still made of fire, it is unlikely that players are intended to acquire it.
  • You can also get fire by different mods and on servers with the /give command.
  • You can get fire the easiest bye downloading Too Many Items, Which is located here
