Chain armor in-game
Chain Armor is a type of armor that was made by Notch as a test. Pieces of chain armor can be crafted like all other types of armor, but with Fire as the ingredient, which can only be obtained via hacking/modding or use of the /give command in Multiplayer; thus, it is not currently available in-game. Chain armor has the same durability as Gold armor.
Chain armor is unique in that it is the only default armor with large amounts of transparency within the armor. Every other pixel is transparent, except for the front of the head, which has a clear space for the face, and other areas which have no covering.
Notch briefly mentioned that he will add legitimate chain armor, most likely in a future update.[citation needed]
Chain armor is not in some texture packs and is sometimes used in some adventure maps as an accessory.
