MINECON 2011 Cape

Steve wearing a MINECON 2011 cape

Capes are rare vanity items and are worn in addition to the player's skin. They also change the appearance of worn elytra.

Obtaining

File:MineconCapes Profile.png

Minecraft.net cape selection menu

There is currently no way to obtain a cape on one's own in Java Edition, although there are various mods like Optifine that allow players to obtain one, only visible to that player (or in some cases, other users of that mod). Only official capes are listed in this article.

MINECON capes before Minecon Earth 2017 were obtained by attending or buying a ticket to the year's MINECON. Minecraft events from 2017 and onward are done via livestream. A cape celebrating Minecon Live 2019 was available in Bedrock Edition to promote the character customizer, though it was not a reward for those who watched the event.

In Bedrock Edition of the game, some skins from various skin packs include capes.

Players of Java Edition who have one or more official capes can choose which to wear (including no cape) by going to their Minecraft profile.

Players of Bedrock Edition can equip or unequip certain capes for their skin via the Character Creator.

On May 12, 2020, Mojang has disabled all unused MINECON cape codes.

On October 21, 2020, Mojang announced that all Mojang accounts will be migrated to Microsoft accounts and will receive a cape.[1]

Elytra

When a player has a cape and equips elytra, the elytra take the place of the cape and adopts its design. If the cape texture has no elytra design, it has the default elytra design. Elytra shares the same texture (and layout) as the cape texture. One cannot get a cape by modifying the elytra texture.

A spider eye is a poisonous food and brewing item.

Obtaining
Mob loot
Spiders
Spiders and cave spiders have a 1 chance of dropping a spider eye when killed by a player or tamed wolf, but not when killed by environmental damage (such as falling). The maximum amount of spider eyes is increased by 1 per level of Looting. The chance of a spider not dropping any spider eyes can be found using the formula <code>2 / (Looting Level + 3)</code>. For example, Looting III gives a 1 chance of not dropping any spider eyes. All other amounts have an equal chance of occurring.

Witches
Witches have a chance of dropping 0–6 spider eyes upon death. This is increased by 3 per level of Looting, for a maximum of 0-15 spider eyes.

Usage
Food
When eaten, a spider eye restores 2 hunger points and 3.2 saturation points, giving a nourishment value of 1.6. Sweet berries are a food item obtained from sweet berry bushes and are used to plant them.

Sweet berry bushes are quick-growing, bonemealable plants that grow sweet berries, and damage and slow players and most mobs moving through them. They can be found naturally in taiga and snowy taiga biomes.

Obtaining
Breaking
Fortune#Discrete random
Sweet berry bushes can be mined instantly with any tool or by hand. A mature sweet berry bush yields 2–3 sweet berries. On its third growth stage, it yields 1–2 sweet berries. Each level of Fortune can increase the amount of drops by 1.

ps4, the sweet berries drop into the player's inventory. In other editions, they drop on the ground.

Natural generation
Berry bushes commonly generate in taiga and snowy taiga biomes. Each chunk has 1 chance to generate sweet berry bushes in random patches. They also generate in both old growth pine taiga and old growth spruce taiga.

Chest loot
sweet-berries

Post-generation
Sweet berries can be collected from a sweet berry bush by using or breaking it, which yield 1–2 sweet berries in its third growth stage, and 2–3 sweet berries in its final growth stage.

Usage
Placement
Placing sweet berries on a grass block, dirt, podzol, coarse dirt, farmlandJava, or moss block creates a small sweet berry bush that eventually becomes a fully grown sweet berry bush.

Growth
A sweet berry bush grows through four stages after it is planted. Its first growth stage is a small bush without any berries. It becomes a grown plant in its second stage, and produces berries in its third and fourth growth stage. The bush needs to be in light level 9 or greater to grow. Using bone meal on it increases its growth stage by one, and at full maturity, ejects the sweet berry item. The bush can be placed on a 1 block high space, but it cannot grow with a full, non-transparent block immediately above it.

Food
To eat sweet berries, press and hold use while it is selected in the hotbar. Eating one restores 2 hunger and 0.4 / 1.2 hunger saturation.

Composting
Placing sweet berries into a composter has a 30% chance of raising the compost level by 1.

Breeding
Sweet berries can be fed to foxes to breed them. Foxes are similar to cats when being fed as a wild animal; a sudden movement by the player may cause the fox to flee even if the player holds sweet berries. A baby fox bred by a player trusts the player and does not flee.

Trading
Master-level butcher villagers offer to buy 10 sweet berries for an emerald.

Entity movement
A sweet berry bush (at any stage) slows down all entities (except items) passing through it. At stage 1 and higher, it causes damage. Foxes are immune to both characteristics, however. Sweet berry bushes deal 1 damage every 0.5 seconds, only if the entity is moving in the hitbox of the bush. Entities that move through sweet berry bushes slow down to about 34.05% of their normal speed, similar to how a cobweb slows down mobs to 15% of normal speed. This makes it impossible to jump a full block while inside the bush.

Mobs at standard block height in a minecart are not damaged when the minecart is pushed through sweet berries. Players in a sweet berry bush take no damage except from horizontal movement, but are unable to jump out of the bush, similar to a cobweb.

Bees
Bees pollinate sweet berry bushes, and then increase the honey level in beehives and bee nests by 1.java

Trivia
* java, sweet berry bushes absorb fall damage like water.
* Foxes harvest mature sweet berry bushes that have grown into their third or fourth stage. Unlike how carrots eaten by rabbits are destroyed and not dropped as items, sweet berry bushes harvested by foxes drop as items, although the fox may pick up one of the dropped berries. The bush remains intact, allowing for automatic sweet berry farms.

Clocks are time-telling devices that display the current in-game position of the sun and the moon. Clocks only function properly in the Overworld.

Usage
The clock dial consists of two halves, a day side and a night side. The dial spins clockwise slowly to indicate the time of day, corresponding to the sun or moon's actual position in the sky. The player is able to sleep a few seconds after the clock shows exactly dusk.

The dial always shows the current in-game time when in the Overworld, regardless of where it appears. This includes a player's hand, an inventory slot, a crafting grid, an item frame, or even as a dropped item. For a clock to be mounted on a wall, an item frame is required.

Because there is no day/night cycle in the Nether or the End, clocks do not work properly in these dimensions. Instead, the dial rotates rapidly and randomly, making them useless.

Piglins
Piglin are attracted to clocks and run toward any clock on the ground, and inspect it for 6 to 8 seconds before putting it in their inventory.

* java, a clock can be viewed under the item statistics page as long as one obtained a clock at some point.
* java, the default resource pack for the clock contains 64 individual frames, each frame lasting about 18.75 seconds in real time (375 ticks) (1350 seconds (22 minutes, 30 seconds) in Minecraft time).
* When the time of day changes suddenly, such as after sleeping or when time is used, the clock dial spins rapidly to catch up.
* Although clocks do not function in the Nether or the End, the actual daylight cycle does continue.

Chest loot
spider-eye

Usage
Food
When eaten, a spider eye restores 2 hunger points and 3.2 saturation points, giving a nourishment value of 1.6. It also applies a Poison effect lasting 5 seconds to the player, causing damage, which reduces hunger/saturation by 6 points.

Lingering potions are variants of splash potions that can be thrown to leave clouds with status effects that linger on the ground in an area.

Obtaining
Brewing
Brewing

Usage
Creating area effect clouds
Lingering potions are thrown, like splash potions, by using them. On impact they explode, creating a cloud. The cloud is made of the potion particles corresponding to the potion that was thrown.

The cloud starts with a radius of 3 blocks, decreasing to 0 over the course of 30 seconds. During the cloud's existence, any player or mob that walks into it after the first second gets the corresponding status effect; this decreases the radius by a 1 block immediately, reducing the cloud's lifespan by 5 seconds.

For effects with duration, the duration applied by the cloud is 1 that of the corresponding potion. For effects without duration such as healing or harming, the potency of the effect is 1 that of the corresponding potion.

The effect may be applied consecutively if the player or mob remains in the cloud. For example, a player throwing the Lingering Potion of Healing II straight down consumes the cloud within a few seconds while being healed 5 times for a total of 20 health. As far as healing is concerned, this makes the lingering potion much more powerful than the regular or splash potion, provided that the player is away from other mobs or players.

Lingering potions can also be thrown out of dispensers like splash potions.

Lingering water bottle
Like the splash water bottle, a lingering water bottle puts out fire and damages endermen and blazes by 1. It creates no effect cloud.

Mud
Lingering water bottles can be used on dirt, coarse dirt, or rooted dirt to turn it into mud.

Crafting ingredient
Filling cauldrons
bedrock, using a lingering potion on a cauldron adds one level of that potion to the cauldron. Attempting to add a lingering potion to a cauldron with water, dyed water or a non-matching potion empties the cauldron and creates an explosion sound (but no actual explosion).

Uncraftable lingering potion
java, the uncraftable potion is a splash potion with no effect that is unobtainable in regular gameplay. It is also available in potion and splash potion forms, as well as for tipped arrows.

It can be obtained using the following command: {{cmd|give @s minecraft:lingering_potion{Potion:"minecraft:empty"} }}. It is also obtained any time a potion has invalid or missing potion effect tags, and thus serves as a placeholder.

! Uncraftable Lingering Potion

Custom effects
java, lingering potions can be obtained with any status effect using give and the tag CustomPotionEffects, which is an array of effects for the potion. See Item format#Potion Effects for more information, and status effect for a list of effects and IDs.

A lava bucket is a bucket filled with lava.

Obtaining
Interacting
To fill an empty bucket with lava, use it on a lava source block or lava in a cauldron. The block is consumed in the process. Flowing lava does not fill a bucket.

If there is a lava source above the pointed dripstone stalactite, there is a 15 (~5.9%) chance for it to completely fill an empty cauldron within 10 blocks under the tip with lava after a random tick. This lava can then be scooped with a bucket, making it a renewable resource.

Usage
A lava bucket can be used to place down lava sources with the Use Item button. Doing so gives the player the bucket back. Lava buckets can be used to replace some transparent, non-full blocks such as tall grass and water, both flowing and sources.

java, lava buckets can be used to break Nether portal blocks by placing the lava on the side of a block next to the portal block.

Smelting
A lava bucket can be used as an efficient fuel. It has the longest burning value of 1000 seconds, compared to 800 seconds for a coal block (a lava bucket smelts 100 items, and a coal block smelts 80). After smelting starts, the lava bucket turns into an empty bucket.

Trading
bedrock, journeyman-level armorer villagers buy a lava bucket for one emerald as part of their trades.

java, journeyman-level armorer villagers have a 40% chance of offering to buy a lava bucket for one emerald.

Cauldrons
A lava bucket can be used to fill a cauldron with lava. The lava damages any entity standing inside the cauldron, unless the entity is immune to fire damage.<!-- ex: nether mobs--> Flowing water or waterlogging does not affect the lava in the cauldron.
