This article is about the solid Blocks of Quartz. For the ore, see Nether Quartz Ore.

Oh, come on. You're not fooling anyone. We know you didn't build your palace out of Nether Quartz because you think it looks good – you're just humblebragging that you've been to the Nether, mined the place rotten for Nether Quartz ore, and then got back alive. Alive and smug. Now we have to live next to your magnificent palace made of quartz in our hut made of dirt. Grumble grumble...

Tom Stone[1]

A block of quartz is a mineral block used only for decoration. It can be turned into chiseled quartz block or quartz pillar.

Obtaining

Blocks of quartz can be mined using any pickaxe. If mined without a pickaxe, it will drop nothing.

Trivia

  • Because of the low blast resistance of regular quartz blocks, it may be preferable to use two quartz slabs when making fortifications using quartz.
  • Unlike other mineral blocks, it is impossible to craft quartz blocks into nether quartz, so it is not possible to use quartz blocks as storage for nether quartz.
