Blocks & Items

Glowing Obsidian

Main article: Glowing Obsidian

Glowing Obsidian blocks were part of the now obsolete Nether Reactor. It emits a soft red glow at light level 12, and drops a single obsidian when broken with a diamond pickaxe. It can only be obtained using inventory editors or Silk Touch. As of 0.12.1, this block doesn't generate anymore. The block may still be obtained using inventory editors or by retaining it from previous worlds before the update.

reserved6

Template:Technical Block

reserved6 is an unused block present in Bedrock Edition which looks like a white concrete in the current versions. It acted as a placeholder block for Fire between Alpha 0.3.3 and Alpha 0.6.1, due to a bug in fire spreading mechanics that caused fire to spread to any block. Before becoming unused, the block was called .name and it had the texture of a stone block. In Alpha 0.7.0, fire was returned with fixed spreading mechanics, replacing it. Its data value, however, changed to ID 255. Currently, it can only be obtained through inventory editing, however in Alpha 0.15.0, the reserved6 was completely removed and the texture was shown as info update block.

Nether Reactor Core

Main article: Nether Reactor Core

The functionality of the Nether Reactor was removed in Pocket Edition 0.12.1. However, the reactor core block still exists in game, and can be obtained through inventory editing or by retaining it from previous worlds before the update. It now drops its ingredients (unless mined with Silk Touch), allowing players to recover them.

Paintings

There are four 2×2 tile paintings with no clear purpose or use. Using IDA and the Android libminecraftpe.so file, it has been found that the paintings are referenced from the game code, particularly in the Motive::getAllMotivesAsList(void) method (get all paintings), but the Painting::setRandomMotive(int) method excludes them as possibilities for a random painting. Artist and purpose of these paintings are both unknown.

Canvas Size Name Description

Stonecutter

Main article: Stonecutter

The Stonecutter is a Pocket Edition exclusive block which is obtainable in creative mode only and is just used for decorative purposes. It can exist in survival worlds where one existed prior to Alpha 0.13.0.

info update

Template:Technical Block

info update blocks are a set of two similar placeholder blocks present in Bedrock Edition. These blocks are placed in the world when the game detects an invalid block ID. (this means it is the substitute to the black-magenta checker block that appears in java edition.) They take the appearance of a dirt block with the text "update!" and "ate!upd", which would form a readable word when placed next to each other. They were introduced in Alpha 0.1.3.

As of an unknown update, the latter block renders "update" as in the first block. It's particles from it being destroyed can be seen in the New Nintendo 3DS Edition break breaking a piston head that is be turned in and off non-stop.

Stone wooden slabs

Before unique slabs corresponding to different wooden planks species were added, oak wooden slabs were treated like other stone-type slabs. They required a pickaxe to break, had a blast resistance greater than normal planks, and had stone sounds. They are still obtainable in worlds which had them in it previously. They are tagged as Wooden Slab, reflecting on the fact oak was the only wood species in plank form. In the Bedrock Edition until Alpha 0.11.0, they are tagged as Fake Wood Slab, and will drop normal oak wood slabs when broken. This slab is still obtainable with commands, with damage value 2 and block type wood_old. It has a missing texture in the inventory.

More Explorer Map

Despite only Ocean explorer map and Woodland explorer map that can be obtained in game. Another explorer map actually exist in the game and can only obtainable via inventory editing, they are

  • Village Explorer Map : show nearest village, the reason why its not obtainable because it sometimes show the nearest village from player and if sold be cartographer villager who also spawn in village, this explorer map more likely useless as it show current location of village.
  • Mineshaft Explorer Map : show nearest Abandoned Mineshaft, for normal or mesa variant
  • Temple Explorer Map : show one of nearest of these structure;
    • Jungle Temple
    • Desert Temple
    • Igloo
    • Witch Hut
  • Stronghold Explorer Map : show nearest stronghold, This explorer map often lead player to village, because Stronghold in Bedrock Edition having high chance to generate under village well. this can be an alternative way to find stronghold beside using eye of ender, or dig under village well every player founded.

These Explorer map named Unknown Map and has same scale as woodland and ocean explorer map, however when hold by hand, its name changed to Map 0,it has green triangle mark as destination structure. These explorer maps have normal map texture, but have same layout like woodland and ocean explorer map which is brown and stripe for water bodies and blank color for land bodies.unlike woodland and ocean explorer map, these map can be zoomed using paper

Health Boost was added to the game in 0.12.0 alpha. It gives extra health that can regenerate.

Dimension

Nether in Old World Type

The Nether was added However, Nether Portals cannot be activated in the Old world type unless converted to infinite world type, but this dimension actually exists in the game. It seems the Nether in Old cannot be accessed.

As update 0.16.0 build 1, Commands were added and the player can now access the Nether in the Old world type without converting it to Infinite by using commands /setblock or /fill with the Nether Portal.

The Nether in the Old world type looks like the normal Nether with the exception is it is limited in size which is the same size as the Overworld which is 256x256 with 128 block height. However,The Nether and the Overworld have the same size, but traveling 1 block in the nether will equal travelling 8 blocks in the Overworld, this is a problem and can make the game freeze or crash that is the reason why the nether can't be accessed in the old world type. when the player goes back with a portal to the nether, a new Nether Portal will generate naturally in the Overworld, because a portal placed with command isn't counted. However the player cannot make a nether portal normally.

End in Old World Type

The End Dimension was added, and alongside the End in old world type. The End cannot be accessed because strongholds never generates in the Old world type and building an end portal also won't work and the only way to access it is via block-placement commands such as /setblock and /fill.

Unlike Nether in old worlds which can generate all structures, TheEnd in the Old only generates the main island and doesn't generate the outer islands, due to the height limit of 256x256.

However, sometimes The End in the Old world type doesn't generate properly, resulting in the central island not generating due to the border. If this happens, the ender dragon may get stuck in mid air at the border and the exit portal only generates cut in half or even not generating at all, and the End gateway portal won't work, due to the size limit. This problem is the reason why the End dimension can't be accessed normally, as the only way to go back to the Overworld is via cheats or dying.

Mob

Nitwit Villager and Nitwit Zombie Villager

Nitwit villagers already existed in Bedrock Edition from earlier versions alongside it's zombie villager version, but remains unused and cannot be summoned using the /summon command but still can be spawned via mob editing.

Armed Zombie Villager

The zombie villager was added but never spawned with armor equipped. However, armed zombie villagers are still spawnable via mob editing.

Wither Skeleton Archer

If a wither skeleton is equipped with a bow, it will use it as a ranged weapon and arrows shot will always be set on fire regardless of whether the bow has any enchantment. However, wither skeleton archers cannot spawn naturally.

Cave Wither Skeleton Jockey

Cave spiders spawned in the Nether have a 1% chance to spawn being ridden by skeleton which has an 80% of being a wither skeleton and a 20% of a normal skeleton. However, since cave spiders cannot spawn naturally in the Nether, this mob becomes unused.
