This is the list of features exclusive to Pocket Edition.

Splashes

There are many splashes exclusive to the Pocket Edition.

Graphics

  • The graphics are more vibrant and smoother than in PC.
  • Burning mobs emit large particles with fire's animation.
  • Shadows on entities move depending on the position of the sun.
  • At sunset, the clouds will turn pink.
  • Water has smooth lighting.
  • The water in swamp biomes is dark gray.
  • Some mobs only have an attack animation.

World generation

  • Biomes that would exceed the 128-block height limit are shrunk to fit in.
Old world type
  • A finite, 256×256 world
  • Generates with a barrier world border
  • It generates modern structures.
Superflat world type
  • Has no villages and can only be created in creative
Villages
  • Wooden roads generate over bodies of water, if any.
  • The table tops are made of a brown carpet instead of a pressure plate as in other editions.
  • Blacksmith chests can have ink sacs and emeralds.
    • This makes village blacksmiths the easier alternative to emerald mining.
  • Generates grass path blocks instead of gravel paths.


Trees
  • A tree has a chance to have vines growing around the trunk, making a “dying tree".
    • This includes trees grown from saplings.
  • Fallen Trees are present.
    • They are composed of a trunk lying on its side, sometimes with vines and mushrooms, and a stump one to two blocks away in the direction the rings are facing.
    • You will occasionally find mushrooms on fallen trees.
Far lands
  • The infinite worlds generate Far Lands since X/Z: ±12,550,821, like prior to Beta 1.8 on PC.
    • However, the PE Far Lands generate different structures and biomes.
  • The Stripe Lands are mostly a graphical glitch, however this area has distorted physics:
    • Players next to water are teleported into the Void.
    • Starts to generate at X/Z: ±16,777,216 and continues until the game's limits.
Huge mushrooms
  • Can be up to 13 blocks tall.
  • Will generate naturally in swamps.
Abandoned mine shafts
  • Will generate on the surface in mesa biomes.
    • These use dark oak planks and fences rather than oak

Invisible bedrock
  • Can act as an X-Ray machine
  • Projectiles can pass through it.
  • Leaves a shadow
  • Tagged as .name<
  • Looks like a sheet of stone in inventory
Jungle leaves
  • Opaque regardless of graphics settings
Stonecutter
  • Available in creative mode, used for decoration only.
Cocoa beans
  • Cocoa beans can be crafted with an orange dye and an ink sac.
Sugar canes
Snow layers
  • Builds up in height gradually through snowfall.
  • Are affected by gravity
Podzol
  • Data value 243, rather than 2.
Obsidian
  • Take slightly faster to mine than in PC.
Leaves
  • In snowy biomes, such as cold taiga, they appear frost covered.
Monster spawners
  • Are available in Creative mode.
  • Take slightly longer to mine than in PC.
Stone bricks
Grassless Dirt
  • Data value 1 is the grassless dirt from 1.7.
Water
  • Is affected by smooth lighting.
  • Water in swamps has a different color.
Gold ore
  • Will generate at all Y levels in mesa biomes.
Sponge
  • Non-functional and uses the old texture.
Boat
  • Crafted using 5 wooden blocks and a wooden shovel.No longer exclusive from dev 1.9 snapshots
  • Entity appearance varies on type of planks used.No longer exclusive from dev 1.9 snapshots
  • Controlled by two paddles.No longer exclusive from dev 1.9 snapshots

  • Created by tilling a grass block with a shovel.
  • Is 15/16th the height of a normal grass block.
  • Replaces gravel paths in villages.
  • When broken it gives you dirt instead of the grass path block.

  • Obtained by harvesting fully grown beetroot seeds.
  • Restores 1 (🍗) hunger
Beetroot soupNo longer exclusive from dev 1.9 snapshots
  • Crafted with a bowl and 6 beetroots
  • Restores 8 (🍗🍗🍗🍗) hunger
Beetroot seedsNo longer exclusive from dev 1.9 snapshots
  • Can only be obtained by tilling grass blocks.
    • It has a 1 in 15 chance to pop out.
  • Used to grow beetroots
  • Can be used a breeding material for chickens
Pumpkin and melon seeds

Dead bush
  • Drop around 0–2 sticks.No longer exclusive from dev 1.9 snapshots

All mobs
  • Attacking burning mobs set fire to their victim
Cave spider
Chickens
  • Can be bred with pumpkin seeds,melon seeds and beetroot seeds.No longer exclusive from dev 1.9 snapshots
Pigs
  • Can be bred using beetroots or potatoes, as well as carrots.No longer exclusive from dev 1.9 snapshots
Sheep
  • Color around their faces and patches when sheared correspond to their wool color.
Snow golems
  • Can use a Shear to remove the pumpkin head.
    • When sheared it will reveal the face texture.
    • Does not drop a pumpkin.
  • Can be built using a jack 'o' lantern as a head.
    • Will still show the regular pumpkin as the head.
Squid
  • Spawns version exclusive baby squid. Produces a black cloud of "ink" when attacked.
Wolves
  • Puppies can spawn naturally.
Zombie Villagers
  • Retains their profession clothes they had before infection.No longer exclusive from dev 1.9 snapshots
    • Appearance looks tattered.
Rabbits
  • Smaller size.No longer exclusive from dev 1.9 snapshots
  • Run from the player.
  • Can be killed in one shot using a bow.
  • Only spawn in forests.
    • Using a spawn egg, they will be tan in deserts and white in snowy biomes.
  • Can eat crops
