Armor Stands are entities that are able to hold and display armor, mob heads, and pumpkins.

Usage

Armor stands are able to hold armor of different materials, as well as mob heads and pumpkins. The stand does not have a GUI, players interact with it directly. They are also able to be placed in different orientations, similar to banners or signs. Armor stands are entities and they can be pushed by pistons, transported by minecarts and bounced by slime blocks. An armor stand can be broken by double-clicking with the left mouse button.

It is possible to summon an armor stand using commands.

 • /summon ArmorStand ~ ~ ~ {ShowArms:1} spawns an armor stand with arms
 • /summon ArmorStand ~ ~ ~ {Small:1} spawns a smaller armor stand.

Properties

Armor stands are not damaged by cactus, fire or lava although they do catch fire. If an armor stand is blown up by TNT, it will break and not drop as an item. Any armor on the stand will drop when the stand is broken. Armor can be automatically placed on armor stands with a dispenser, but mob heads can only be added manually. Because armor stands are entities, they obey gravity (unless specially spawned without gravity), allowing them to fall and rest on non-full blocks such as Enchanting Tables and Snow Cover.

A minecart with command block is an impulse or repeating command block inside a minecart.

Obtaining
The minecart with command block is obtainable only using the command give @s command_block_minecart, as it does not appear in the creative inventoryBE and has no crafting recipe. It can also be summoned using the command summon command_block_minecart. It can be broken like any other minecart, but only the minecart is retained, while the command block is lost.

Usage
Command Block
The minecart with command block combines the functionalities of both minecarts and command blocks. Although the minecart visually contains an impulse command block, it functions more similarly to a repeating command block, and runs its command once every four game ticks when on an active activator rail. When it passes over a detector rail with a comparator connected next to it, it outputs the command block's result.

Bookshelves are blocks that improve enchantments applied with an enchanting table when placed around one, up to a maximum of fifteen bookshelves, at the expense of level requirement.

Obtaining
Natural generation
Bookshelves can generate in village libraries and sometimes village houses.

Strongholds may contain up to two libraries, each of which may be single-level or have an upper balcony. These feature some bookshelves arranged in pillars, and more bookshelves arranged in pillars in the walls. Single-level libraries contain 161 bookshelves, while libraries with balconies contain 233.

Bookshelves also naturally generate in certain woodland mansion rooms.

Breaking
Bookshelves can be broken fairly easily by hand, but can be broken faster by using an axe. In either case, they drop 3 books when broken, allowing the reconstruction of the bookshelf with the addition of six wood planks. When broken by an item that is enchanted with Silk Touch, a bookshelf drops itself.

Trading
Novice-level librarian villagers have a 2 chance to sell 1 bookshelf for 9 emeralds.java

Usage
Enchanting
Enchantment mechanics#Bookshelf placement

If an enchanting table is placed near a bookshelf, glyph particles fly from the bookshelf toward the enchanting table. Having bookshelves in the proper position near the table allows the table to apply higher-level enchantments.

Crafting ingredient
crafting usage

Fuel
Bookshelves can be used as a fuel in furnaces, smelting 1.5 items per block.

Villager
Librarian villagers can interact with bookshelves.

Note Blocks
Bookshelf can be placed under note blocks to produce "bass" sounds.

Trivia

 • Although the slab in the crafting recipe can be any stone-type slab, it will not accept red sandstone slabs, because red sandstone slabs use a different ID to other stone-type slabs.
