This article is about the game mode. For the update, see Adventure Update.

Adventure mode is a game mode intended for player-created maps by limiting some of the gameplay in Minecraft, in which the player cannot directly destroy most blocks to avoid spoiling adventure maps or griefing servers. Most blocks cannot be destroyed without the proper tools (axe:wood; pickaxe:stone). However, players can still interact with mobs and craft items.

While it is possible to play a "regular" survival Minecraft game in adventure mode, it is quite difficult to do so. Most of the time is spent collecting food to replenish the food bar. Because players cannot immediately collect blocks, players usually do not have time to construct a shelter before the first night. For this reason, it is essential for players to search for NPC Villages or any other structures that are safe from hostile mobs. It is recommended that beginners enable cheats or bonus chests before creating a world.

Command blocks are intended for use in adventure mode gameplay.

Features

 • Most blocks cannot be destroyed by hand, and require corresponding tools.
 • Interaction with mechanisms as well as trading is allowed.
 • Compatible in multiplayer.
 • The gamemode is accessible in cheats, by typing /gamemode 2 <playername> or /gamemode adventure <playername>
 • Use of Modding API.[1]

History

a
?Adventure mode, formerly Dungeons and Levers, was announced by Notch on July 7, 2010.[2] Notch hinted at four players to compete in Adventure mode. Adventure mode may include permadeath like in Hardcore mode, making it rogue-like in nature,[3] and may have a quest system with randomly generated maps/quests.[4]

Super fertilizer can be used in the same way as normal bone meal. It produces more flowers in a larger area when used on grass blocks compared to bone meal. When super fertilizer is used on a sapling, a tree is instantly grown after one use, instead of multiple uses as with bone meal. Super fertilizer matures crops with just one single use.

Note that super fertilizer doesn't instantly a hanging mangrove propagule, likely due to a bug.

Added Adventure mode. Accessible through the cheats command, /gamemode <playername> 2 or /gamemode <playername> adventure. It is still possible to craft in Adventure mode both with the 2x2 crafting grid in the player's inventory and with the full sized 3x3 crafting table. The player can still interact with blocks with an interface, such as chests, dispensers, crafting tables, furnaces and brewing stands. The player can also go through portals, but cannot activate one by using flint & steel; flint & steel can be used to activate TNT.

Snowballs are throwable combat items that hit but do not damage most mobs on impact.

Obtaining
Tutorials/Snow farming

Mining
A shovel without the Silk Touch enchantment can get 4 snowballs by breaking a snow block, and 1–8 snowballs by breaking or blasting snow layers – one per layer. The Fortune enchantment does not affect these amounts.

bedrock, snowballs are dropped from snow layers even when mined with a Silk Touch shovel.

Explosions
Creeper and TNT explosions leave snowballs in the resulting debris field if near snow.

Ravagers
BE, Ravagers destroy snow layers, dropping snowballs.

Pistons
BE, a block or piston head pushed into the position of snow layers destroys the snow layers, dropping snowballs. 1-3 layers drops 1 snowball, 4-5 layers drops 2 snowballs, 6-7 layers drops 3 snowballs and 8 layers drops 4 snowballs.

Mob loot
Snow golems drop 0–15 snowballs upon death, unaffected by Looting.

Combat
Snowballs can be thrown by using them. There is no charging time or cooldown for firing them, java Combat Tests meaning they can be thrown as fast as the player can click.

Like other projectiles, snowballs are affected by gravity: their range is the same as those of eggs and ender pearls, less than that of arrows fired from bows, and more than that of splash potions. In Bedrock Edition, players will receive damage and will be knockbacked.

Snowballs deal 3 each to blazes but they deal no damage to other mobs. Mobs still receive knockback and act the same as if they were being damaged (for example, zombified piglins who are hit by snowballs become aggressive). Players BE receive knockback, while players JE are unaffected.java Combat Tests

When fighting the ender dragon, end crystals are able to be destroyed by snowballs being thrown at them.

Snowball, like other projectiles, can be used to distract the warden. A warden walks towards the location where the snowball lands to inspect it, giving the player time to escape. However, if snowballs are fired too frequently (at least twice in 5 seconds), the warden walks straight to the player instead.
In the new versions they can hit players but just only in bedrock
Dispenser
Snowballs can be fired from dispensers.

A very fine item was a joke item from Java Edition 20w14∞, found only in the isolation dimension.

Appearance
The texture of a very fine item resembles the side face of a grass block with the words "Home Sweet Home" written on it. Unlike most items, its texture is 64x64 pixels, rather than the usual 16x16.

Obtaining
Dimension
A very fine item can only be obtained from an item frame in the isolation dimension. There is a maximum of 1 fine item that can be found legitimately in any world.

Cheats/Creative mode
This item can't be found in the creative inventory, but it can be middle-click duplicated in creative mode or given with the command.

Usage
This item cannot be placed or used in any way other than a trophy. It can still be inserted and/or rotated inside of an item frame.

Certain blocks can now be removed and placed again with correct tools.[5]

Bugs

 • There is a bug where paintings and item frames can be broken (but not placed). This is because they are considered entities.
 • Sometimes the player cannot equip armor from a chest if they have more than two items in their inventory.
