1.14.4 is a minor update to Java Edition released on July 19, 2019,[1] which makes minor changes to villagers and server permissions, and fixes many bugs left over from 1.14.3.[2] It is not compatible with 1.14.3 servers.

    • Used to get more detailed information while debugging performance, such as lists of chunks and block entities in each dimension.
      • Saves this information as a .zip file in the .minecraft/debug folder.

  • Added function-permission-level to server.properties which controls which permission levels functions have.

Trivia[]

  • 1.14.4 is the first time an update has had a fourth minor revision since 1.9.4, with 1.10 through 1.13 only having two minor revisions.
  • 1.14.4, along with 1.8.2, has the most pre-releases of a minor version, at a total of 7 pre-releases.
  • 1.14.4 is the third time a minor version has had a greater number of pre-releases than its major version (1.14), with the other times being 1.8.1 and 1.8.2 of 1.8.
