'''경험치'''는 광석 채굴이나, 몹을 죽이거나, [[번식]]을 시키거나, [[낚시]]를 하거나, [[화로]]를 사용하는 등을 통해 얻어진 경험치 구슬을 수집하여 얻을 수 있다. 전통적으로 경험치 점수는 경험치 레벨로 축적된다. 경험치 수준이 높다고 해서 플레이어의 능력이 직접 높아지는 것은 아니다. 그 대신 경험치를 사용하여 [[마법 부여]]를 하거나, [[모루]]를 사용하거나, 무기, 방어구, 도구 등을 생산하는 데 사용한다.

== 작동 방법 ==

대부분의 경험치는  경험치 구슬 형태로 나타난다. 경험치 구슬은 오른쪽 위의 그림과 같이 연초록색 작은 공 모양으로, 플레이어 쪽으로 이동하여 자동적으로 기존의 경험치에 합쳐진다. 경험치 구슬은 플레이어의 보관함에 합칠 수 없다.

경험치 구슬을 통해 경험치 점수를 수집하면 화면 아래쪽에 있는 경험치 막대를 점점 채워주며, 막대가 가득차면 새로운 레벨로 올라간다. 플레이어가 죽으면 플레이어는 '''7 * 현재 수준''' 만큼의 경험치 구슬을 떨어뜨린다. 하지만 최대가 100점이어서 이를 흡수해도 7레벨 까지만 올라가고 나머지 경험치는 사라진다.

경험치를 얻을 수 있는 방법은 다음과 같다.
* 몬스터를 죽이면 다른 아이템과 함께 경험치 구슬을 드롭한다.
** 플레이어(혹은 길들인 {{EntityLink|id=wolf|늑대}}나 {{BlockLink|TNT}})가 때린 공격의 5초 이내에 몹이 죽지 않으면 경험치를 드롭하지 않는다. 또한 불타고 있는 몬스터를 때리거나 화살을 맞춰도, 그 때문에 죽지 않는다고 해도 5초 이내에만 죽으면 경험치를 드롭한다. (5초 동안 불에 타고 {{hp|5|9px}} 만큼의 피해는 받지 않지만, 계속 공격을 하면 된다.)
** 플레이어가 {{ItemLink|flint and steel}}를 사용하여 활성화시킨 [[TNT]]에 몹이 죽으면 평소처럼 경험치를 드롭한다. 하지만, 화재나 레드스톤, 폭발 등에 의해 터진 TNT에 몹이 죽으면 경험치를 드롭하지 않는다.
** 몹들이 드롭하는 구슬의 수는 무작위이다. 각각의 구슬의 경험치 값도 다를 수 있다. 하지만, 총 경험치 값 합계는 아래에 주어진 값 내에서 항상 정해진다. 
** 몹이 드롭하는 경험치는 난이도 설정과 관계없다.
** 적대적 몹이 수동적 몹보다 경험치를 많이 준다. 아기 동물, 박쥐, 골렘, 주민은 전혀 경험치를 주지 않는다. [[엔더 드래곤]]은 총 12,000 경험치 구슬을 드롭한다. 다른 어떤 것보다 200배 이상이다.
*** 일부 적대적 몹은 무기가 방어구를 가지고 스폰된다. 이들 몹은 장착한 장비의 숫자에 따라 1-3 점을 추가로 준다. 스폰된 뒤에 집은 장비는 계산되지 않는다.
** [[생성기]] 블록을 깨뜨리면 15-43점의 경험치를 준다.
* 아이템을 떨어뜨리는 광석(석탄, 레드스톤 등)을 [[채굴]]하면 경험치를 준다. 광석 자체를 받는 광석(철 광석, 금 광석 등) 은 경험치가 없다. [[섬세한 손길]]을 부여한 장비로 광석 블록을 캐면 경험치가 드롭되지 않지만, 나중에 그 블록을 설치한 뒤 일반적인 방법으로 채취하면 아이템과 경험치를 드롭한다.
** 플레이어가 작동시킨 TNT이던 아니던, 광석이 폭발에 의해 파괴되어도 경험치 구슬을 드롭한다.
* 여러가지 아이템을 [[제련]]할 때
** 무슨 광석이든 제련을 하면 경험치를 주지만, 금이나 철 정도만 가치가 있다.
** 식료품, 점토 블록, 선인장, 통나무, 모래, 조약돌 등의 물질을 제련/조리하면 중간 정도의 경험치를 얻을 수 있다.
** 제련된 물질은 GUI 윈도를 통해 화로에서 꺼내야 한다. 화로를 깨뜨려서 내용물을 빼내면 경험치가 파괴된다.
* 동물을 [[번식]]시킬 때. 부모 동물이 있는 곳에 경험치 구슬이 생긴다. [[달걀]]을 깨뜨리는 방법은 경험치를 주지 않는다.
* [[낚시]]를 할 때. 고기를 빼내는 즉시 (고기를 줍지 않아도) 경험치를 준다. 
* 주민과 [[거래]]할 때
* [[경험치 병]]을 깨뜨릴 때

=== 경험치 구슬 ===

경험치 구슬은 연두색으로, 6블록 거리 이내에 있으면 플레이어를 향해 미끄러지듯 빨려온다. 가까워질 수록 속도가 빨라진다. 거미줄이 있으면 빨려오는 속도가 느려진다. 경험치 구슬은 물살에 휩쓸려 갈 수 있다.

경험치 구슬을 수집하면 크리스마스 벨 소리와 비슷한 소리가 잠시 들린다. 자원과는 달리 경험치 점수는 점차로 올라간다. 경험치 구슬이 아무리 많더라도 한번에 하나씩 (1초당 10개의 속도) 플레이어에게 합쳐진다. 극단적인 경우, 플레이어가 몇 초동안 수많은 구슬에 둘러쌓이게 될 수 있다. 경험치 구슬을 5분이내에 수집하지 않으면 사라져 버린다.

경험치 구슬의 값은 다를 수 있지만, 자연적으로 스폰되는 구슬은 1-11, 17, 37, 73, 149, 307, 617, 1237 의 값을 가진다. (이론적으로는 2477도 가능하지만, 이 정도 수치의 구슬은 스폰된 적이 없다.) 낚시, 번식, 거래의 경우 경험치가 임의인 구슬이 하나 드롭된다. 블록을 깨뜨리거나, 몹/플레이어를 죽이거나, 아이템을 제련하거나, 경험치 병을 을 깨뜨릴 경우, 총 경험치를 계산하여 1,3,7, 17, 37, 73, 149, 307, 617, 1237, 2477 값으로 분리한다. 먼저 가장 높은 값을 선택하므로, 총 1000점의 경험치라면, 617, 307, 73, 1,1,1 등 6개의 경험치 구슬이 만들어진다. 참고로 엔더 드래곤은 12,000 경험치를 떨어뜨리는데, 1000 점 경험치를 10번, 2000 경험치를 한번 드롭한다. 따라서 2477점짜리 경험치 구슬은 만들어지지 않는다.

경험치 구슬의 일반적인 가치는 크기에 반영된다. 가능한 크기는 1–2, 3–6, 7–16, 17–36, 37–72, 73–148, 149–306, 307–616, 617–1236, 1237–2476, 2477 에 상당하는 11가지 크기가 있다.

경험치 구슬은 불, 용암, 폭발, 선인장 등에 의해 파괴될 수 있으며, 압력판과 철사줄에 반응할 수 있다. 경험치 구슬은 광산 수레를 세울 수 있다.

One place that people discussed it was on the Minecraft forums, where it was discovered that the tabs at the top of the change list that were partly covered, could be decoded based on the 2 pixel tall pattern available in the image.<ref>http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/379958-secret-information-about-17/</ref>

The experience level costs were heavily revised in snapshot 12w22a and 12w23a. Before these, reaching level 50 (the maximum usable on a single enchantment) required 4625 experience, corresponding to defeating 925 hostile mobs (assuming the "common" ones.) Afterwards, considerably less experience is needed to get into higher levels (The amount which would formerly get the player to level 30 now gets them to level 39). Higher levels cost more experience than lower ones, but the levels are still easier to get than in 1.2.5. Now level 30 is the maximum for enchantments, and that cost is equivalent of 165 "common" mobs, less than 1/5 the old price.
