Minecraft Dungeonsのワールドの中にはさまざまなエリアがあり、レベルをクリアすると解放されるエリアもあれば、一部のレベルの中で秘密の巻物を入手することで解放される場所もある。

The following main missions and secret missions can be found in the Overworld: オーバーワールドには、キャンプ、イカ海岸、クリーパーの森、湿っぽい沼、レッドストーン鉱山、カボチャ草原、サボテン峡谷、砂漠の寺院、燃える鍛冶場、ハイブロックホール、黒曜石の尖塔の探索可能な11個のエリアがある。
また、条件を満たすことで解放される隠しエリアもあり、クリーパーの森で解放できる「不気味な洞窟」、湿っぽい沼で解放できる「湿っぽい洞窟」、カボチャ草原で解放できる「王の隠れ家」、ハイブロックホールで解放できる「アンダーホール」、およびキャンプで解放できる「？？？」がある。
