glowingobsidian |
Glowing obsidian was a Pocket Edition exclusive block that was generated when a Nether Reactor was activated. The glowing obsidian block became unused in Alpha 0.12.1. This block has no use, other than decorating.
Obtaining[]
Upon activation, the blocks that made up the reactor (nether core, stone block, golden block) turned into Glowing Obsidian. Glowing obsidian cannot be retrieved from the Nether reactor as a drop, instead regular obsidian was dropped. It took the same amount of time to mine as obsidian, and the proper tool to mine glowing obsidian was a diamond pickaxe, otherwise it dropped nothing.
Usage[]
Glowing obsidian was a solid block that emitted a light level of 12. Glowing obsidian emitted red smoke particles within close proximity to it so long as it existed, and it turned into obsidian after a short amount of time. It had the same blast resistance as normal obsidian.

Trivia[]
- If the nether reactor core was mined out while the nether reactor was active, the glowing obsidian wouldn't turn into obsidian after the reactor deactivated. This also caused the reactor to stop spawning items.
- If the gold blocks were mined out before they changed to glowing obsidian, the gold blocks were preserved, and the nether reactor continued spawning items.
